MTU Detroit Diesel Australia will be displaying new 2800kW (3500hp) 20V4000 twin-turbocharged diesel engine on Stand 411 during AIMEX 2007 – Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition, to be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park from September 4 to 7, 2007.

The 90-litre 20V4000 engine is the new horsepower leader of the V4000 range, and features two single-stage turbochargers, a high-volume oil pump, self-cleaning oil filters, oil management and replenishment, rocking valve pedestals and water-cooled exhaust and turbochargers.

While the engine is new, it shares components with the 12V4000 and 16V4000, of which over 4,500 units have been produced since 1997. As testament to the longevity of these components, the 1,500 engines in mining applications have accumulated over 20 million hours of operation.
