Sydney Airport has begun to rollout an extension to its Maximo-based maintenance system that will allow maintenance personnel to use wireless devices to record and validate data on the network.
Maximo mobile suite, developed by MRO Software , increases productivity by eliminating paper-based work orders and reporting, allowing personnel to record data at the maintenance point rather than back at the office, according Sydney Airport Maximo support engineer Michael Del Vecchio.
“Taking Maximo to wireless handheld devices is the next evolutionary step for Sydney airport,” Del Vecchio said.
“As the first Maximo mobile suite customer outside the US, Sydney Airport is pioneering the use of wireless handheld technology, providing airport staff involved with all aspects of maintenance and asset management with mobile access to work orders, job plans, inventories and other key data via palmtop computers.”
The wireless solution is an extension of the MRO enterprise asset management (EAM) solution that Sydney Airport has used to manage its maintenance activities for the last 10 years.
