The delivery and commissioning of packaging equipment in just one week has got an exciting new confectionery product development project off to a flying start.
And the advantages of hiring to support the NPD project for a major UK retailer have been endorsed by Tangerine Confectionery who is using a PA182 tray sealer from Packaging Automation. Packaging Automation's equipment is distributed to the Australian food industry by MPI.
The project at the Liverpool factory of Tangerine Confectionery, the large independent UK confectionery manufacturer, is a first for the company as it has never used Packaging Automation equipment, or sealed pre-formed packs before.
But Packaging Automation's response in supporting Tangerine, as well as the quality of the machine it supplied, has delighted the confectionery company and enabled it to begin extensive trials of the new marshmallow product line.
With its robust construction, reliability and flexibility, the PA182 is widely used by food manufacturers. It accommodates trays up to 120mm deep as standard and can seal and trim film from a reel onto trays of CPET, polypropylene, PVC, board and foil, for example.
The tray sealer has a small footprint, making it ideal for use in smaller production areas and its hygienic design eliminates bug traps. Tool changes can be carried out in just two minutes. It combines ease of use and portability enabling it to be moved from one line to another if required.
Tangerine Confectionery's purchasing manager Terry Mills commented: "PA have been absolutely superb in responding so quickly which was vital to the project."
He added: "PA and their team have been excellent throughout - absolutely first class - and their training, combined with the machine's ease of use, enabled us to quickly run the first trial packs. The fact that we are hiring the machine also gives us great flexibility."
Tangerine Confectionery manufactures extensive and well-established ranges that include wine gums, jelly babies, boiled sweets and fudges, among other products.
