Leading UK specialist poultry producer Lloyd Maunder says that the hire deals offered by Packaging Automation on tray sealing equipment have helped to keep its investment costs low while meeting seasonal peaks in demand.
Packaging Automation, whose equipment is distributed in Australia by MPI , has just supplied two more machines to Lloyd Maunder's base in Willand, Devon, to help pack the hundreds of thousands of packs of value added poultry supplied to the UK's leading supermarkets each week.
Now with five Packaging Automation machines on site being used to seal up to 32,000 packs per day, Lloyd Maunders general manager Ted Higgins has nothing but praise for the company.
Commenting as the two new machines - PA182 MAP-F tray sealers - were delivered, Mr Higgins highlighted the benefits of working with Packaging Automation: "In our business, like many others, there are seasonal peaks, particularly centred around summer barbequing weather where demand quickly and significantly increases. Taking machines on hire means that we can meet this short-term demand without excessive additional investment."
He continued: "Packaging Automation's responsiveness also means that we can get new equipment and tooling delivered very quickly, often within two weeks of order, which is exceptional. And because the machines offer high oxygen MAP flushing we get extended life of our products which is another important benefit in this market and something our customers demand."
As well as added value poultry products - which include the company's specialist Devonshire Red breed chickens - Lloyd Maunder also uses the Packaging Automation equipment to pack burgers and sausages for the famous Black Farmer range.
In extensive use worldwide, the PA182 is one of Packaging Automation's popular machines. It accommodates trays up to 120mm deep as standard, and can seal and trim film from a reel on to trays of CPET, polypropylene, PVC, board and foil. Its hygienic design eliminates bug traps and the compact design with small footprint means it can be used in smaller production areas. It is easily portable and can quickly be moved from one production line to another if required.
Mr Higgins is certainly impressed, both with the machine and the company. He says: "I would not hesitate to recommend them. What you get with Packaging Automation is excellent service and excellent equipment - delivered quickly, with competitively priced tooling that is quick and easy to change."
Packaging Automation's sales engineer Jonathan Mildred said: "Seasonal peaks in demand are something that many businesses have to deal with, and for many hiring equipment for a period of weeks to give extra capacity in the short term is an ideal solution. We believe we offer the best deals in the market, and our response times for delivery of equipment and tooling are second to none."
