MAINTENANCE Experts has released MEX Ops v10, an Intranet version of its maintenance requesting system, MEX Ops. The advantage of MEX Ops v10 is that it can be used without the usual "set up" that is required by other programs.
If it is installed on an Intranet server, it is already available to all users. The task of installing the application on each individual user's computer is eliminated. Whenever an upgrade is installed, it is automatically available to all users, simultaneously.
MEX Ops and MEX Ops v10 provide an efficient maintenance requesting system for businesses that manage equipment, facility or vehicle maintenance using MEX management system software.
They are particularly useful where there are remote or out-of-hours users. Examples include manufacturing plants with multiple sites or extended hours as well as hospitals, local government and vehicle fleet operators.
In a manufacturing plant situation, Ops allows any shift staff to log a request for any equipment item, such as a faulty indicator light. They can select the indicator light from a drop-down list on their computer, state the problem and its priority.
The request is automatically logged with date, time, requestor's name and other details.
MEX does not need to be running to use either MEX Ops or MEX Ops v10. When the daytime maintenance staff arrive and turn on their computer, they are alerted via a message similar to "new mail".
After reviewing each request from any number of overnight users, the maintenance supervisor can accept or reject with comments. Accepted requests become immediate Work Orders in MEX.
Night staff can view the current status of their requests at any time. The user interface is simple and intuitive. A simple "filtering" tool allows each user to view only his or her own requests.
MEX Ops and MEX Ops v10 are examples of extremely simple but effective productivity tools that can benefit all manufacturers.
