Origin Energy have been utilising Maintenance Experts (MEX) Computerised Maintenance Management System for over 10 years and use MEX for many development projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Origin is a top 50 ASX listed company involved in gas and oil exploration and production, power generation and energy retailing. Origin began back in 1946 and now has almost 4000 employees in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, more than 3 million customer accounts in Australia and the Pacific and more than 105,000 shareholders.
Selection Criteria for a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Origin Energy identified a need to align all of their business units to a standard way of working in unison and harmony across a large geographical area which includes Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. With this in mind Origin needed a Computerised Maintenance Management System that would meet the following criteria and align with their principles and values.
Origin purchased MEX in 1999 for their head office in Brisbane, this than expanded to another 19 sites. Origin utilise MEX, the MEX project Tool, MEX Ops and MEX Mobile.
The use of MEX over the past 10 years has assisted Origin to develop a strong maintenance focus and mature our maintenance philosophy and resources into a strong and sustainable core group that delivers Asset reliability and cost effective maintenance to the company. While providing visibility and accountability to the decision making and subsequent actions in maintaining all of our assets across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
As Origin Energy has a varied range of engineering disciplines employed within each business unit the system we chose had to deliver value for investment, be infinitely configurable and as a minimum, meet all the criteria of Origin Energy 30 Criteria, which is what we believed would be the starting point in developing a sustainable long term Computerised Maintenance Management software.
