A range of heavy-duty pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders developed to meet the needs of the resource industries is now being machined and assembled in New Zealand by MacValves Pacific Inc .
The line includes cast head heavy-duty air and hydraulic cylinders, NFPA air and hydraulic cylinders, plus a wide range of heavy-duty accessories.
The R-series of pneumatic cylinders, rated to 250 psig pneumatic pressure, come in many difference mounting styles including food mount, double rod, blind and clevis, mid trunnion, rod end flange common head etc. They feature Nitotec-treated piston rod and barrels.
The piston rod is Nitotec-treated C1045 carbon steel, although other rod materials include chrome-plated 316 stainless steel and chrome-played carbon steel.
Hythane K-Seals are standard. This design prevents rolling or extrusion, reduces friction and prolongs life. The gland bushing is of Roto-cast bronze for low friction and longer bearing life.
Its snap-ring retention design allows for easy removal for maintenance without the need to dismantle the cylinder. Also fitted with Hythane seals, this design also allows for optional rod sizes with a common head. Heads are of ductile iron, accurately machined for good alignment of barrel and moving parts. NPTF ports are standard. Bronze wipes are also optional.
The L-series has 250 psi pneumatic rating and 1500 psi hydraulic rating. It comes in a multitude of mounting styles, all NFPA complaint, and can be interchanged with other cylinders meeting NFPA standards.
The piston seal is double-acting Teflon impregnated component to reduce friction; the rod seal is Hythane; gland bushing is of Toro-cast bronze; and the piston is a one-piece design of aluminium incorporating a replaceable wear ring to prevent metal-to-metal contact and increase the life of the cylinder.
