When the state roads body was faced with the problem of loose rocks on the hillside of a major highway, they chose to use the Lunar Lighting Australasia 's Lunar Lighting Tower for night time repairs. The Lunar Lighting Tower was chosen for its ability to light up the whole wall face with just one unit; with the added benefit to workers and oncoming traffic of being glare free. In view of rocks falling onto the road and creating a potential hazard for motorists, it was essential that work be completed with a minimum of downtime and fuss.
Only one Lunar Lighting Tower was used instead of several conventional lighting plant saving on set up costs, fuel, transport and labour with the added value of daylight reproduction of 6000° Kelvin for safety. The 360° illumination lit up the entire work area. Changing over to 180° direction takes only a few minutes.
