Australian wine-makers, Brown Brothers, have been offering customers something different to satisfy wine enthusiasts. They have been using Loscam ’s storage and transport services for more than a decade and have expressed their views on the products and services of Loscam.

Scott Darkin, the company’s Public Relations Manager, said that they have a strong point of difference from a lot of other wine producers in Australia. Brown Brothers have diverse portfolio of wines, that go beyond the traditional chardonnay, cabernet.

Ever since the first vintage in 1889, Brown Brothers have been doing things differently and this philosophy enabled them to weather downturns. They have sought to develop new and innovative wines from elsewhere. Originally of European origin, but planted in Australia and Brown Brothers have produced selections like Pinot Grigio, Tempranillo and Moscato, which offer the consumer variety.

According to Scott, the slowing economic times are a challenge for the Australian wine industry. Brown Brothers have held to their wine pricing, because they believe that this was necessary to fit as well as sustain their position in the market. Having new, innovative and interesting wines coming on, Brown Brothers have remained profitable by having something new and interesting to release every year.

Aaron Haw, Packaging Manager of Brown Brothers, said that Brown Brothers work with BevChain, a division of Linfox who have three warehouses in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. From here the products are sent to customers like Woolworths, Coles, ALM, etc.

Warehouse Manager, Kelvin McInnes, said that because of the constant movement of product off site, they don’t require a huge quantity of pallets for storage. Brown Brothers have pallets for their finished goods, plus an adequate reserve. At peak time, the production lines handle around 11 or 12 pallets an hour. They go straight into the distribution facility and are then loaded onto B-doubles going to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Brown Brothers have been using Loscam solely for around 10 to 12 years. They find Loscam’s storage and transport services not only cheaper but also efficient. The good back-up and HMS system facilitates easy traceability.

If there is a discrepancy in the storage or transport, it can be followed up quickly, because of the traceability. Brown Brothers have never had a problem with the quality of the pallets they received.
