LOGITECH Australia has released its first cordless mouse that doesn’t need its own receiver.
The V270 Cordless Optical Notebook Mouse for Bluetooth uses Bluetooth wireless technology to connect with notebook PCs and Apple PowerBook notebooks that have a suitable integrated receiver.
The device provides mobile professionals with a one-piece, ultra-portable alternative to the touchpad.
The V270 mouse is based on the design of the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks, which has been a best seller among the rapidly growing number of notebook PC users.
The silver-coloured mouse uses Bluetooth 1.2, which features adaptive frequency hopping to reduce the chance of interference from other 2.4GHz wireless devices such as Wi-Fi notebooks or cordless telephones.
With typical use, the mouse achieves a battery life of up to three months, which can be extended with the convenient on/off switch.
Also, as part of its Smart Power Management system, the mouse features a low-battery indicator light, helping remove the potential surprise of a dead battery.
The Logitech V270 mouse has a 1000dpi optical engine, providing smooth, precision tracking on a wide variety of surfaces – important for the mobile professional who uses the mouse on the road.
For PCs using Windows, the V270 mouse comes with a version of Logitech SetPoint software that simplifies first-time connection. Pressing the reset button on the base of the mouse puts the mouse in discovery mode and launches SetPoint software and an intuitive wizard helps the user establish the connection.
On an Apple PowerBook, the product can be connected just like any other Bluetooth device by going through the control panel in the operating system and putting the mouse into discovery mode. After being connected the first time on either a PC or Mac, the mouse will automatically reconnect each time the computer starts.
The V270 mouse is designed to work on a PC that has Windows 2000/XP, Broadcom/Widcom Bluetooth BTW 220.127.116.11+, or Microsoft XP SP2, or Microsoft XP64.
For the V270 mouse to work properly on a Mac, it must have Mac OS X 10.2.8+ and be enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology.
