Australian engineering design and refurbishment specialist Leussink Engineering has added a Faro laser tracker to its stable of technologies to expand its refurbishment capabilities.
Sourced from the USA, the Faro laser tracker is a metrology measuring tool capable of a high degree of measurement accuracy, allowing Leussink engineers to measure data points accurately to 2µ over large distances.
The unit has already been used in an important project as part of the company’s technical alliance with German company Corts (Corts-Leussink). The Faro laser tracker was used to take measurements at a hot strip mill for BlueScope, helping to report on the customer’s facility, the actual size of the component that was due for refurbishment, and the repair required to bring it back to original condition.
A new Faro articulated arm connected to encoders allows it to perform in larger areas. When using the two devices at once, the front and back of the equipment can be measured simultaneously.
