At the recent Auspack exhibition held in Melbourne, Le Mac launched a new decoration system, the Le Mac tray sleeving system, showing off examples of the latest in drop-dead gorgeous, linerless adhesive-backed labels and the ultra-efficient, compact labelling machines that apply them.
The linerless labelling system is licensed from the UK where over 350 systems have been installed and over 1 billion linerless sleeves are being used annually.
The primary target market is the chilled food sector such as case ready meats and seafood, prepacked salads and convenience meals in trays and bowls.
On display was the Le Mac tray sleever model Nobac 400, a high speed labelling system developed for retailers and packers.
The sleever is an inline machine, which eliminates the need to turn the packs. The tray sleever can apply sleeves in five formats: top, top and side, top and two sides, Cwrap and full wrap.
An onboard Markem coder prints either fixed data at 120ppm or variable data at up to 85ppm.
The innovative linerless label structure eliminates the need for wasteful, non-recyclable siliconised liners and the absence of this backing material means that reel changes are quicker and easier.
