IBM and Intentia Internationa l have announced a new strategic alliance designed to help customers integrate their business processes for enterprise and supply chain management through a consolidated software offering.
As part of the alliance, Intentia will standardise and ship its J2EE-based Movex collaboration applications on IBM's open middleware and hardware, running on Linux.
The companies will also expand their joint sales, marketing and development activities.
Intentia managing director Steve Ironside said the ability to collaborate, anticipate opportunities and respond quickly to changes transparently throughout the supply chain was an important element of an on-demand environment.
"Customers can have the flexibility to integrate solutions both within and across the enterprise with their suppliers, partners, customers and other member of the extended value chain.
"In this latest release, every external component of Movex has been released as a web service,” he said.
“Consequently, the application becomes extremely open and flexible to meet the unknown demands of operating in a connected, collaborative supply chain."
Since Intentia's founding nearly 20 years ago, Intentia and IBM have successfully delivered management systems to more than 3,500 customers worldwide.
IBM's eServer, iSeries, xSeries and pSeries hardware and middleware will be Intentia's technologies of choice and optimal reference platforms in marketing and sales activities.
IBM's sales force will market the combined offering and have dedicated consultants in Intentia's IBM Competency Centre to support application development and testing, and optimisation, tuning and other development activities.
