Lawson Software, a global provider of enterprise software applications, has appointed Ian Desbrow as its new director of solutions sales for Australia and New Zealand.
Desbrow, who brings extensive ERP experience from Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and Mincom aims to support the building of the Lawson brand into a respected and acknowledged leader in the ANZ ERP space.
His core focus will encompass sales operation effectiveness, future product releases and development of excellence in solution consulting across the Lawson M3 and S3 product lines.
Lawson M3 products are designed for manufacturing, wholesale, distribution, and maintenance-intensive organizations.
Lawson M3 products primarily target vertical markets including food & beverage, fashion and asset management industries.
Lawson S3 products are aimed at service-related sectors, with solutions specifically designed for healthcare, government and retail industries.
Desbrow brings more than 20 years of experience in the enterprise software industry, with his ERP expertise spanning local government, building/construction, mining, utilities, defence and financial services sectors.
According to Desbrow, Lawson offered a great opportunity to join a well-established, dynamic company that is on the road to a really strong future in the ERP market.
Consolidation at tier one level in this space has left companies in the mid-market with fewer options. Many medium-sized businesses need and want value from an ERP solution demand is still strong.
But these organisations have unique needs specific to their size and industry focus and will not get the true value they need from the giants of the industry.
Desbrow believes that Lawson addresses key market needs with its M3 and S3 product sets and expanded vertical and geographic market reach.
Lawson offers a lower total cost of ownership and is now well positioned to give customers true choice over the applications they need and the type of organisation they want to work with.
Recently Desbrow was the head of solution consulting for Oracle in the Asia-Pacific region, where he was responsible for managing a pre-sales team across fifteen countries.
Previously, Desbrow held senior roles at PeopleSoft, where he was instrumental in working with the Australian Defence Force’s enterprise-wide HCM solution acquisition, as well as roles with both JD Edwards and Mincom.
As well as his experience across all aspects of ERP from Supply Chain Management and CRM to Enterprise Asset Management, Desbrow is also a leading subject matter expert on Human Capital Management (HCM).
According to Desbrow, companies in ANZ are now clearly seeing the link between good HCM practices and shareholder value.
HR departments and senior management now have a clearer understanding of the issues around constricting workforces, retention of skilled resources and shifts in employment attitudes which are driving the way they do business.
Lawson’s sophisticated offering in the HCM arena focuses exclusively on these HCM drivers a product that has only just been made available to ANZ businesses so Desbrow looks at this as a key growth opportunity for the company locally.
Desbrow is also a noted international consultant, industry speaker and published author on human resource issues. He is a chartered member of the Australian Human Resource Institute.
