Lawson Software announced today that Ian Desbrow has been appointed director of the Lawson Equipment Service Management and Rental (ESM&R) vertical in the Asia Pacific region in addition to his current role of director of sales for Australia and New Zealand. In his regional role, Desbrow will lead Lawson’s strategic sales initiatives and support the company’s focus on the ESM&R industry according to its vertical market approach, which is designed to create a higher level of expertise and add more value for Lawson Software customers. He reports to David Hope, general manager and regional managing director, Lawson Asia-Pacific.
Desbrow brings over 20 years’ enterprise resource planning (ERP) experience to Lawson, which includes extensive knowledge in asset management within mining, utility and heavy equipment companies. Prior to his regional ESM&R directorship appointment at Lawson, he held the position of the company’s director of sales and solutions for Australia and New Zealand from 2007.
Before joining Lawson Software, Desbrow was head of solution consulting for Oracle in Asia Pacific where he was responsible for managing a pre-sales team across 15 countries. Before this, he held senior roles with PeopleSoft in the area of human capital management. From 1993 to 2000, Desbrow also held positions with Mincom including senior business development and consulting roles focusing on human capital management in the Asia Pacific region.
“The ESM&R business unit is a key area of focus for Lawson, which overlays well with opportunities both globally and in the Asia Pacific region,” said Desbrow. “Over the past year, we have already signed key deals in other regions around the world with customers such as Finning, Hewden, Zeppelin, Wheeler Machinery Co, Swire Oilfield Services and Briggs Equipment. I’m confident that our Lawson for Equipment Service Management and Rental solution will have a positive impact on customer value and growth opportunities for Lawson in the APAC region in the future.”

The company now operates 20 offices in the Asia Pacific region spread across 10 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Japan, as well as a joint venture in Thailand.
“Lawson’s new strategic direction in the Asia Pacific region for our 2010 financial year, which began on 01 June, is to align our organisational structure according to our four key focus industries of fashion, food and beverage, equipment service management and rental, and manufacturing and distribution,” said David Hope, general manager and regional managing director, Lawson Software, Asia Pacific & Japan. “Given’s Ian’s vast experience in both enterprise software and asset management, I’m confident that we will deliver great results to both customers and shareholders alike.”
