Lawson Software announced this week that Colin Strang has been appointed solution architect for the Equipment Service Management & Rental (ESM&R) industry in the Asia Pacific region.
This role will see Strang report to Ian Desbrow, director of the Lawson ESM&R vertical in the Asia Pacific region, and be responsible for designing and presenting Lawson Software solutions for companies within the industry.
In addition to his new industry solution consultancy role, he will also provide regional internal support to help further develop Lawson Software's competency level in the ESM&R vertical across the solution design, sales, and consulting departments.
“As one of Lawson Software's key target markets in the Asia Pacific region, our mission is to create a high level of expertise around the ESM&R industry and add more value for customers – particularly in Asia,” says Desbrow. “Colin’s deep level of industry knowledge and expertise will play an instrumental role in helping us achieve this as we promote the industry internally, as well as externally through recruitment agencies as we build our team over the next 12 months.”
Lawson for ESM&R is a flexible, easy-to-use, enterprize-wide application. It is specifically designed for distributors, equipment manufacturers, and rental companies that focus on after-sales service and continuous customer care.

Strang has worked with Lawson Software for over fifteen years, initially based in Hong Kong where he played an instrumental role in setting up the Southern China operations, then moving to his current Sydney base. He has spent the past two years working within the heavy equipment and mining industries, primarily with Caterpillar dealers. He also has several years’ experience dealing in the heavy machinery sector with many of the industry’s leading companies. During this time he also acquired extensive exposure to operations within rental markets.
Strang's background before Lawson includes set up operations for a medical instruments company in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
