LXE , a manufacturer of wireless products and solutions that improve the performance of supply-chain execution applications, has announced the introduction of the MX1-IS, LXE's ultra-rugged intrinsically safe mobile handheld computer.

Due to its broad intrinsically safe (I-Safe) approval rating, the MX1 -IS can be used in almost any I-Safe environment, including environments where explosive material is always present (Division 1 Rating).

"Australian industry has been waiting on the launch of a rugged mobile computer that meets local intrinsically safe testing requirements for some time,” says Richard Adams, managing director of LXE Australia.

“The MX1-IS will allow companies that require intrinsically safe devices in all or part of their operations to continue with their implementations of standards based wireless data capture systems."

The MX1-IS has the same form factor and many of the same features as LXE's MX1 handheld. The unit can be ordered with either a short, long, or advanced long-range integrated scanner, and will be available with multiple keypad options including a 60-key alphanumeric keypad.

The MX1-IS's productivity-improving power management system supports a full eight-hour shift.

The MX1-IS features an industry standard, highly reliable, 486 processor and a ROM-DOS operating system. The unit supports 900MHz or 2.4GHz (802.11b) radio options and numerous terminal emulation standards for easy integration with most logistics and manufacturing management applications.
