LX Innovations , an award-winning Australian electronics design house has been nominated in two categories at the British 2010 IET Awards.
The YellowBird ALERT, an emergency alert system from LX Innovations was recognised by the IET, the London Institute of Engineering and Technology for its pioneering design with nominations in the Information Technology and Sustainability categories.
The IET Innovation competition attracted entries from around the globe with innovative designs that demonstrated the imagination of engineers in tackling their own local, economic and social challenges.
Other entries competing at the IET Awards alongside YellowBird ALERT include smart metering, remote solar panel cleaning, ultra low power solar information transport and self healing electricity distribution network products.
YellowBird ALERT (Automatic Linking to Emergency Radio Transmissions) is an emergency alert system designed to alert users of natural disasters.
YellowBird ALERT has already won awards at the Future Electronics Awards and the National Resilience Award.
The global competition has attracted entries from leading organisations and corporations such as Vodafone, British Telecommunications and Siemens Industrial as well as the universities of Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh.
