Loctite develops new spray on ceramic shields for welding [video]

Loctite (Henkel Australia) presents a new ceramic dry film protective coating for MIG/MAG welding processes.

Loctite SF 7900 Ceramic Shield for Welding protects contact tips, welding nozzles and jigs by preventing adhesion of welding spatter. Recommended for manual MIG/MAG welding, laser and plasma cutting, and jigs, fixtures and fittings, the Loctite SF 7900 is a ceramic, silicone-free protective spray coating that dries within seconds. The protective coating prevents adhesion of welding spatter for many hours with just one application, and also offers assured savings.

On spray application, the coating dries by solvent evaporation within 5 to 10 seconds at room temperature. Thicker films need longer drying time. Once the welding process begins, the coating hardens on the equipment surface by the heat generated. This provides optimum spatter repellent properties, especially for severe operating conditions.
