The LS Starrett company has released a new multi-function tool that makes precision contact and non-contact measurement easier and more affordable.
The Pocket-Tach Plus provides accurate, fast flexible rpm measurement from both non-contact and contact applications. The unit is CE/NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) certified.
The Pocket-Tach Plus allows non-contact measurement from 5 to 100,000 optical rpm, and 2.5 to 20,000 contact rpm, with precise read-outs in revolutions, inches, feet, yards, centimetres or meters as determined by the user. Measurements are accurate to within ±0.01% of the rpm reading. Resolution range from 0.0001 to 1rpm.
Using the unit for contact measurement requires only the attachment of a contact tip assembly to its base. For non-contact measurements, it can be aimed at a reflective target from as much as 10 metres away.
Measurement data can be set to display on the unit's large, east to read six digit LCD screen either in a set range (eg. in whole units such as 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) for quick reading, or in automatic floating range (eg. 1234.5) for maximum resolution and accuracy.
For enhanced accuracy and convenience, the unit provides steady illumination of the bullseye, and the last measurement in memory remains visible for about 90 seconds.
Its multi-function totaliser can be used as an optical counter, to gather input, and as a stopwatch, and can be set to operate in either automatic or manual mode.
As a timer, it can be set to take measurements as often as every hundredth of a second, or up to an hour apart; as a stopwatch, it can time intervals within a second of a full 100 hours.
The innovative Pocket-Tach Plus design makes it easy and safe to use in any environment. A low-battery indicator helps ensure that its capabilities are always readily available to the user, and it uses a standard 9-volt battery.
