Kontron recently announced the release of a high-speed storage solution for 3U and 6U CompactPCI systems, the Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT. This product enables OEMS and system integrators to setup powerful and robust storage and RAID solutions in a number of applications such as video surveillance, image processing and infotainment.
Thanks to the integrated backplane, the Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT storage solution can be easily integrated in existing CompactPCI installations, reducing development efforts and time to market.
Designed to be highly reliable and rugged to suit the requirements of harsh environments, the Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT storage solution was tested to railway standards for shock and vibration and offers an extended operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.
The Kontron CP-HDD-S carrier boards consist of an aluminum frame with a mounted carrier PCB which can host one 2.5" HDD or SSD drive. The SDD drive is available for the full extended temperature.
For mechanical stability and additional shock and vibration resistance, two metal guide pins can be optionally installed in the backplane to secure the carrier board.
The SATA II compliant Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT storage solution is designed to allow easy installation in all 19” enclosures, regardless of whether it is a 3U or 6U CompactPCI. This flexibility makes the Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT an ideal fit for various applications in transportation, military, aerospace and industrial automation environments.
"The CompactPCI storage solution is designed to meet the growing demand for flexible high-speed data storage in many fields CompactPCI is in use”, says Sandra Korsinek, Product Manager for 3U CompactPCI at Kontron.
”To fulfill this demand most efficiently the Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT storage solution is available both directly off the shelf or configured customer-specific and delivered as a fully tested application ready solution,” she adds.
The Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT storage solution carrier boards provide LEDs for activity and error indication. Furthermore the carrier boards are fully hot pluggable, ensuring fast maintenance without the need to shutdown the running system.
For high-speed read and write access, SATA II is supported on the Kontron CP-HDD-S-KIT as well.
