Global crane manufacturer and crane servicing company Konecranes has opened a new office and workshop in Sunshine West, Melbourne, more than doubling the size of its headquarters for Victoria and Tasmania.
The new service facilities will complement the expanded local service capabilities of Konecranes, which employs a team of 49 staff servicing leading manufacturing, ports, energy, defence, infrastructure, metals and materials handling companies throughout both States.
Located adjacent to both the ring road and the Geelong Freeway access, the new Konecranes facility incorporates expanded service, training and maintenance facilities to benefit customers.
Facilities at 284 Proximity Drive Sunshine West include a classroom for local technician training and a service area incorporating advanced lifting technology comprising of a monorail-mounted Konecranes CXT hoist and a jib crane fitted with an XN chain hoist. The equipment will be utilised in the workshop for training and as an aid for repairing and overhauling customers’ crane components.
The Melbourne facility follows the opening of similar new facilities in Sydney and Auckland as the company builds on growth of more than 500% over the last decade with major initiatives in sectors such as mining, oil and gas, ports, steel and industrial infrastructure development.
Recent technology innovations from Konecranes include container handling technology such as RTG and ASC products, as well as SMARTON high performance modular crane systems, which can lift loads up to 500 tons.
Konecranes also offers Crane Reliability Surveys and Third Party Inspections to ensure that all makes and models of cranes are fully compliant with the latest Australian Standards.
A world-leading crane service organisation, Konecranes has more than 373,000 cranes of all makes under service contracts worldwide and operates 31 service locations throughout Australasia.
According to South District Manager Mr David Eynaud, the new facility in Melbourne will provide a first class working environment for employees and customers while providing a local training facility to complement the company’s major training facility at the Sydney head office.
