There are many, many examples of electronic and industrial equipment designs, such as automotive electrical applications, audio equipment, audio visual equipment and lighting equipment that use a classic fuse and fuse holder combination mounted on the panel or discretely internal to the equipment on the PCB.
However, additional circuit protection may be required if a device is installed in a larger system or if changes in standards impose increased safety requirements. The systems integrator or installation contractor is faced with solving these increased safety demands, and the inline fuse holder becomes a suitable and price attractive solution.
The FDI is offered for the two most popular fuse-link sizes 5x20 and 6.3x32 mm. It is available either unassembled where customers can affix application specific wire leads, or assembled with standard wire lead.
