CREO has released version 3.1 of Synapse UpFront, a job planning solution that enables commercial and publication printers to increase productivity while reducing operating costs.
Version 3.1 of Synapse UpFront supports the JDF 1.2 specification and adds the ability to export impositions to other prepress or management information systems (MIS) via stripping parameter elements, for increased flexibility in the job planning process.
Enhanced integration with Preps imposition software delivers superior Preps template creation that takes into account source file design. When a planner exports Synapse UpFront jobs, he can now export the production-ready Preps templates based on design constraints. The marks database of Synapse UpFront 3.1, including diagram marks, Preps marks and mark groups, provides planning flexibility and efficiency. Turnaround times are accelerated with the expanded usability features of Synapse UpFront, including the ability to easily rename, edit, and update press layouts and marks. Job planning is more intuitive with auto-calculating press layouts based on fixed press-sheet sizes.
