Kinder & Co recommended the installation of the K-Snap-Loc dust seal system to reduce wear on the belt conveyor at the dedicated port facility in Port Pirie.
Situated 223km north of Adelaide, Port Pirie houses one of the largest smelters in the world. The dedicated port facility located in an adjacent area receives concentrates, with final products despatched by road and rail. About 20 million tonnes of zinc concentrates and leads are exported from here every year.
The area requires a green field approach to all aspects of bulk logistics at their facilities. But the existing clamped rubber skirting was not only causing wear and tear damage to the conveyor belt, but also creating a significant amount of bulk materials spillage.
This led to inefficient operation in addition to the constant manual adjustment required by the existing rubber clamp. Given the size of the port operations, it was turning into a very frustrating and time-consuming task.
The team of sales engineers at Kinder & Co recommended the installation of the engineered polyurethane Ester G96A dust seal system, K-Snap-Loc. Lighter than rubber, the K-Snap-Loc was surprisingly very easy to install.
The customer is extremely delighted with the product with the lack of wear on the belt conveyor very noticeable, prolonging the life of the belt while also minimising the amount of waste from unnecessary spillage.
