KERRY Flanagan is among hirers of small earthmoving machines who tow away and save.
"It's convenient, and saves quite a bit of time," said Kerry, a plumbing contractor who specialises in waste water management.
Kennards Hire has a fleet of combi trailers, which were specially designed and built for the self-transportation of mini earth-moving machines, small ride-on rollers and 5.7m (19ft) scissor lifts. They can be towed behind most work vehicles.
Kerry Flanagan, a Biolytix agent in the semi-rural Hawkesbury district on the outskirts of Sydney, does a lot of trenching.
"While we have our own mini loader, at times we need an extra machine, so we hire it from Kennards Windsor," he said.
Steve Oswald, who operates Skelso Plumbing, is another contractor who utilises self-towing when he hires mini-loaders for trenching from Kennards Hoxton Park.
"It is very convenient because I can just get our blokes to call in on their way to the job in the morning," Steve said.
The Kennards combi trailers are dual axle, with a longer ramp and a beaver tailed rear end. A winching mechanism makes it easy to load and unload.
Lashing straps, as well as instructions on how the machine should be secured in the trailer, are provided.
Kennards has 78 centres across Australia.
