Ideal for use on sandy or boggy ground, the new rubber-tracked loader was put to the test during maintenance work at Frankston Beach in Melbourne. Programmed Facility Management used the rubber-tracked loader from Kennards Hire to pick up sand, which had blown on to paths and grass areas, and return it to the beach.
“A huge amount of sand gets blown off the beach by the northerly winds, and the only way to get it back on is with a tracked machine,” said team leader Ian Morton. “This little machine was fantastic for manoeuvring on the beach and being able to spread the sand around, rather than just leaving it in piles. The rubber tracks mean you can also use it on the grass areas without the risk of causing damage.”
Because of the variety of work it undertakes, Programmed Facility Management regularly hires Kennards’ equipment to supplement its own plant.
The rubber-tracked loader, which has roughly the same capacity as 4-SDK8, weighs 2700kg and is 1470mm wide without the bucket attached. The rubber-tracked loader can handle a load of up to 1600kg and has a dump height of 2275mm.
