Retaining Specialists regulary hires 3.5 tonne mini excavators to help with the installation of sheet pile retaining walls, and with jobs spread right across Australia the company needs to work with a hire company that has a wide span of branches and a willingness to adapt equipment.
According to Neal McQuade, operator of Retaining Specialists, the use of hired mini excavators is a relatively new addition to the company's range of solutions for rock and soil stabilisation.
“It is a commonsense system which we have revived and improved,” says McQuade.
“The head of a rock breaker attachment is coupled with a drive rod, which drives metal alloy anchors into the embankment through a hole in the sheet pile.
“Once the anchor has reached the required depth, the drive rod is extracted and the anchor is locked against the whaler," he explains.
Retaining Specialists have had a lot of success with their new system right across the country, which is now generating quite a bit of interest.
“It’s important for us to work with a good hire company, and we have developed a good relationship with Kennards people wherever we have worked,” says McQuade.
Kennards Hire has more than 100 general and specialist equipment hire centres across Australia for the hire of equipment such as mini excavators.
