Kennards Hire has introduced electric dry-cut saws to its rental range that are designed to eliminate dust and mess when cutting a range of materials.
These new saws are powered by a 2.6kW motor, and can cut to a depth of 120mm on materials that range from bricks and reinforced concrete to metal beams and pipes.
They feature an intelligent electronic control system that regulates motor power to suit the material being cut and the pressure applied to the tool, in addition to a vacuum unit that is specially designed to work with the saws, creating a virtually dust-free environment.
Kennards Hire Alexandria recently leased one of these new dry-cut saws to WH Electric Co, which assisted the company during an office block refurbishment.
This particular application required eight penetrations to be cut for recessed in-floor boxes for power and reticulation, each measuring 430mm long by 320mm wide and 110mm deep.
As these penetrations adjoined cable holes drilled through the floor, the use of a wet-cut saw would have resulted in water dripping to the floor below.
Foreman Tim Newbold explains that if a wet-cut saw was used for the project, he "would have had to have people with buckets down below collecting the water. By using the dry-cut saw, we eliminated the mess."
The new dry-cut saws are available for hire from Kennards' network of hire centres, with outlets covering all states and territories.
