The Kennards Hire Pump & Power hire centre in Far North Queensland hired out a 150mm trailer-mounted pump for a $32.47-million project to rebuild the cyclone-damaged Cardwell foreshore.
The pump was put to use by SEE Civil, a family-run company with 20 years’ experience in the construction industry including the delivery of disaster recovery works.
The company was awarded the tender for the reconstruction work on the coastline south of Tully, which was hit by Cyclone Yasi in 2011. This project, which is funded jointly by the Federal Government and the Queensland Government, is part of a $12 billion program overseen by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
Featuring a capacity to pump up to 132 litres per second, Kennards’ pump is also extremely easy to move around and can remove any seawater entering the work site at high tide.
The new Kennards Hire Pump & Power branch in Townsville has already provided equipment as far north as Cape York, west to Mt Isa and south to Bowen.

Kennards Hire Pump & Power operates equipment hire centres in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
