Kennards Hire introduces a new line of balloon lights designed to provide wide area illumination in traffic situations.
The balloon lights are available from the traffic control equipment branches operated by Kennards Hire in NSW and Victoria. Kennards has opened traffic control equipment hire centres in all mainland states.
Kennards’ balloon lights are trailer-mounted lighting systems that produce 360 degrees of diffused and glare-free light from three 1000W HTI metal halide lamps to provide coverage over 6500m².
The balloon lights feature an innovative mast design, a rugged cabinet and chassis as well as a diesel engine. The lights inflate up to 1.1m in diameter and up to 1.4m in height.
Balloon lights from Kennards’ NSW traffic centre were successfully used on a major gas pipeline rehabilitation project.
Civil construction company Codmah had undertaken a 6-month project with the infrastructure company Jemena, involving the upgrade of the gas supply line to Sydney’s northern beaches.
The project involved the laying of nearly 12km of new pipe, most of it on the shoulder of the Wakehurst Parkway, which runs through bushland.
Codmah hired a mixture of balloon lights and traditional lighting towers to illuminate the stretch.
Codmah construction manager Andy Saunders says that balloon lights provide a 360-degree illumination, providing good quality and glare-free light that makes them more driver-friendly.
Codmah also hired Kennards’ trailer-mounted VMS boards to caution motorists about the road works.
