A walk-behind corer from the groundcare section of Kennards Hire provided a fast and economical means for renovating a golf course in south-western Sydney.
A water pump problem at the Riverlands course badly damaged the greens, and the corer was used in the second stage of the golf course renovation. It was also employed to rejuvenate a number of tees.
Operations manager Bob Morse said they would normally have used a tractor-drawn aerator, but the walk-behind machine worked out better for timing and was also more economical.
They were able to accomplish the work on 18 greens in five to six hours. According to Mr Morse, his team was able to master the equipment quickly. The hired corer was user-friendly as well as manageable and followed the contours of the greens efficiently.
Kennards also offers several other types of aerators for the professional upkeep of golf courses, sporting fields and various large green areas.
Their product range includes the Aera-vator, which is popular for broad acre aeration and is ideal for sports fields, school ovals and golf fairways.
Another option, the deep tine aerator aerates to a depth of 350mm with solid tines and coring tines available.
Also available is the earthquake aerator, which has a unique wave action that shatters the soil.
