The MIR10 is a compact laser system that adds to Kenelec Scientific ’s range of infrared fusing and heating laser systems. The MIR10 delivers a versatile method of sampling and analysing solids for noble gas and isotope-ratio mass spectrometry. The system simply “floats” above the sample chamber allowing operators to use non-flexible tubing to connect to the extraction line for stronger signals and lower blanks.
The MIR10 laser fusing and heating systems deliver full computer control of all laser, beam-delivery, sample-observation and sample-manipulation functions. It features a 30 watt laser output power source, making it sufficient for micro-feature and bulk analysis sampling of hazardous and difficult-to-handle materials such as sanidine, feldspar and zircon. Optimal results are achieved because of the long working distance, joystick control and 1,024 steps of output-power resolution.
