Kanga Loaders has developed an advanced remote control skid steer loader specifically for hazardous areas and dangerous applications which may otherwise subject personnel to danger.
This customisable technology is applicable across a wide range of industries including mining and quarrying, bulk materials handling, public works, building and construction sites, tunnelling and road building, waste handling and environmental services, wharf and dockside work and general engineering.
Known as the Kanga D800R, the technology minimises operator exposure to risk, particularly in the modern day workplace where occupational health and safety rules have become more stringent which makes the equipment even more valuable.
Managing Director of Kanga Loaders, Alan Porter, says the Kanga D800R is a very inexpensive solution to potential WorkCover problems and productivity issues.
The D800R is a wireless remote control loader that has high levels of ergonomic controls for a safer and more efficient working environment.
The D800R reduces industrial injuries, operator fatigue, and provides greater efficiencies to bring economic benefits to users.
Freedom of movement is another important advantage of this wireless remote-control technology.
The product has been designed and built with industrial environments in mind and is being fitted out accordingly, with superior engineering and durability.
Design criteria identified that most maintenance and clean up operations occurred in highly hazardous areas, so unscheduled shutdowns are commonly adding to breaks in productivity and cost.
Criteria required a low height profile of 1000mm or less to enable the unit to work under conveyors, crushers, screens in tunnels and through spaces in rubble and similar areas with restricted space.
At just 1000mm high and 1020 wide, the D800R is built to almost indestructible standards, designed to withstand accidental rollover and harsh environments.
As the remote control skid steer loader is built from the parts bins of the conventional Kanga Loaders, owners are ensured each unit is quickly manufactured to order and spares are easy to obtain.
The Kanga D800R is powered by Kubota’s worldwide proven three-cylinder tier 3 water cooled 25HP diesel engines.
Productivity is assured, without any exposure to workplace risks or injuries.
“Apart from being very easy to control from a distance of 200 metres and highly efficient, the unit is quantifiable investment for a business," said Porter.
“At the end of the year's work, you get your capital investment in perfect condition while the employee can become injured performing the same duty.
“Therefore, risking personnel becomes a far more costly option in circumstances that may be dangerous.”
Even in these early stages, there are two units in operation and more in the pipeline. One user, Kiln Services WA, has several contracts working under and around live machinery in cement and mining plants at Munster, Kalgoorlie and Kwinana in W.A. Another unit is in operation at a Whyalla S.A. steel plant.
