Professor Niemeyer has been appointed as the new CTO at KHS AG. He shall be responsible for the Technology and Development division.
Professor Niemeyer was born in 1967. After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Hanover, he passed his final examinations to become a graduate engineer. In 1998, he was awarded a doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) and in 2001 habilitation (qualification as a university lecturer). In 2005, he was appointed as professor at the University of Hanover.
Professor Niemeyer’s career began as a research associate at the University of Hanover. This was followed by positions as Managing Director of a special research sector and as chief engineer at the ‘Institut für Werkstoffkunde’ (Institute of Material Science). In November 2001, Professor Niemeyer joined the Salzgitter Group. Here, Professor Niemeyer was initially in charge of the Development department – Steel & Processing divisions at Salzgitter AG. He subsequently assumed responsibility for management of the ‘Werkstoffzentrum’ (Materials Center) of Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH. Since 2003, He has been head of R&D Management of Salzgitter AG in dual role. Since January 1, 2004, Professor Niemeyer has been Managing Director of the ‘Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH’ (the central research company of the Salzgitter Group).
