JOHNSON Controls has released the FX16 HVAC/R master controller, a high performance multimedia controller that's ideal for medium-sized applications that include chillers, indoor packaged air conditioning units, air handling units, and close control units.
The FX16 is protocol-independent and can adapt to protocols such as LON, N2Open, and TCP-IP. It allows up to 27 I/O, with the capability of expanding the I/O count through standard XT/XP modules or using other controllers in the FX family as slave devices. It provides remote monitoring and commissioning through embedded HTML pages or modem connection. Other features include automatic reporting or real time alarms via email messages or SMS.
Distributed intelligence using other FX controllers can be accomplished without network data exchange routines in a supervisor. Applications include the control of multiple, independent air handling units and large hot water or chilled water generating plants. The FX16 can control up to seven slave devices in the FX range.
