Two Soundcraft Si1 digital live sound consoles were installed for Sky Racing’s new multipurpose control room designed for magazine shows.
Sky Racing is a major provider of multi-venue, multi-channel race broadcasting services, telecasting more than 70,000 races each year to millions of viewers in Australia and around the globe.
Located in the Sydney suburb of Frenchs Forest, Sky Racing has recently constructed a brand new, multipurpose control room designed to host magazine shows in addition to functioning as a back-up control room for race day control rooms.
Two Soundcraft Si1 digital live sound consoles were installed in the control room. Soundcraft mixers have been delivering high quality performance in transmission-to-air, production and live studio events for the broadcast environment for several years.
Hayden Marshall, Projects Engineer at Sky Racing says that the Soundcraft console’s full DSP platform was a deciding factor. The platform ensures quick recall of pre-loaded shows as well as fast turnaround of magazine shows.
Hayden adds that they had explored various options in the audio console market before zeroing in on the Soundcraft Si1 as it was one of the easiest and most flexible digital consoles for the investment.
Hayden highlights some of the advantages of Soundcraft Si1 digital live sound consoles:
- Good value for money as the consoles can be adapted to suit the audio director’s requirements
- 32 mic inputs mapped on 16 faders
- 4 dedicated Stereo Line channels
- 4 dedicated FX Returns from the four-stereo Lexicon FX processors can mix up to 48 inputs
- Compact footprint of just 1200mm width
- Excellent sound quality
