Perth-based lighting designer Andrew Portwine was getting fed up with turning up at gigs and being offered sub-standard lighting control consoles so he made the decision to purchase his own.

Andrew, who owns APE Productions, had a good look at what was available and he soon came to the conclusion that there was only one choice for him, the Jands Vista S3, available from, Jands.

The Jands Vista S3 is a compact version of the Vista that puts all the features of the full-scale console into a desk you can fit under your arm.

Designed to be used with your desktop or laptop, the S3 is a Vista without the computer hardware components: software and the control surface is provided, you provide the computer.

Install the software, connect your PC to the S3 with a USB cable, and you have got a fully-operational Vista console.

"I've always been a big fan of PC-based controllers and so I was really interested in the Vista when it came out as a PC-based package," said Andrew.

"Then to be able to buy a control surface made it all come together. I love the control surface is nicely laid out and built.”

"The operating software is fantastic, I love it and it's certainly a great tool. Really it's all good. Yes, it would be nice to have a Vista in a Vista box but as a small business, I decided that was out of the price range. The Vista S3 is an affordable alternative and a fantastic one at that!"
