The Videoplus Group has been researching more environmentally friendly lighting fixtures, leading to the company recently trialling its new Vari-Lite VLX LED wash light, supplied in Australia by Jands .
Two of the new Vari-Lite VLX lighting fixtures were used at the Breast Cancer Awareness gala dinner, held at the Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast.
The VLX lighting fixtures supplied general room wash and effects, as well as stage lighting for host Olivia Newton John and acts such as James Blundell.
Regional Queensland manager for The Videoplus Group, James Dee, says that the company is actively trying to become more environmentally aware.
He says that the new Vari-Lite VLX lighting fixtures performed impressively for a low power profile device, delivering richness and a wide variety of colours in the LED along with solid colour rendering, correction and treatment of skin tones.
The dimming curve on the Vari-Lite VLX is, he says, one of the smoothest he has ever encountered. He found that the smooth operation plus low fan and motor noise is also impressive in a venue with a low ceiling height.
Lightweight and easy to setup, James notes that the VLX lighting fixtures also feature:
- strobe control options
- low power consumption
- low heat
- long life
- low operating costs; and
- no evidence of flickering shot through digital video cameras.
