Billy Elliot musical is still playing at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre. Director for this award winning musical is Stephen Daldry, choreographer Peter Darling, set designer Ian MacNeil and lighting designer Rick Fisher.
The lighting rig for the Billy Elliot musical has been supplied by Chameleon Touring Systems. The Vari-Lites, available from Jands , are supporting the show’s lighting. Fifteen VL3500Q spots, four VL3000Q washes and two VL1000s from Vari-Lites are performing the musical along with thirty ETC Revolutions.
According to Billy Elliot’s designer, the Vari-Lites’ tungsten correction is good.
The shutter systems on the two units of Vari-Lites and ETC Revolutions get a good workout. The ETC Revolutions are used in quiet mode as well. With the ‘wybron’ scroller system, the Billy Elliot’s team are able to switch off the scroller fans from the console, allowing for lower ambient noise levels when the units are not being used. The ETC Revolutions use a gobo module and a shutter module.
