JBL Professional has announced the release of its new PRX600 series active portable loudspeakers, supplied in Australia by Jands .

Offering power, durability and versatility, the PRX600 range is suitable for any small to mid-sized live sound environment and comprises of four full range cabinets and two subwoofers.

These portable loudspeakers utilise JBL differential drive speaker technology, dbx Type IV limiting circuitry and class-D amplifiers.

At the core of the PRX line is a fully integrated DSP input section providing mic/line level input, selectable system EQ and a solid A/D converter for a maximum signal-to-noise ratio.

Director of portable PA marketing for JBL, Richard Ruse, says that the PRX600 series of portable loudspeakers was designed to perform in the real world of sound reinforcement, where challenging audio environments, high ambient noise levels and loud volumes are the norm.

New ultra-low noise A/D converters utilised in the PRX600 series have been optimised to reduce idle noise and improve the overall spectral balance and audio performance of the loudspeakers.

The line has been revoiced for improved clarity and tone, and with the addition of a new, discrete appearance and strategically located M-10 suspension points on the full range cabinets, the PRX600 series of portable loudspeakers is suitable for installation in any commercial facility or house of worship.

At least 15% lighter and 20% smaller than their predecessors, the PRX600 series also meets Hamran’s ‘Green Edge’ promise of environmental responsibility.

Using less wood and plastic in their construction, the loudspeakers require less energy to build and will use less fuel to transport due to their lighter weight.

All PRX600 series portable loudspeakers include:

  • proprietary JBL Differential Drive neodymium woofers
  • powder-coated, obsidian, 16-gauge perforated steel grilles
  • obsidian DuraFlex finish
  • integrated handles with backing cups
  • commercial grade, lightweight, multi-layer, 18 mm plywood cabinetry
  • tongue and groove construction; and
  • dual or single 36mm pole sockets or an M20 pole socket depending on the model selected.
