Parramatta's Albion Hotel has undergone a fantastic face lift including the introduction of a 700 capacity live venue and nightclub called Gasworks, as well as a popular beer garden and bar.
The hotel belongs to the Solitel Hotel Group owners of many venues throughout NSW and Australia.
Audio consultant David Gilfillan designed and specified the audio requirements for the hotel with Beyond AV supplying and installing the equipment. A large number of JBL speakers were specified as well as Crown amplifiers and BSS processing.
The nightclub and live venue entitled Gasworks has a separate audio stage system that utilises four JBL VRX932LA constant curvature line array enclosures, designed with a wider vertical coverage than other larger VerTec series line array loudspeakers so fewer speakers are required in small to moderate-sized venues.
However they are designed and built to the same high standards and use the same advanced, concert-proven drivers.
In fact the VRX932LA delivers extraordinary power handling, clarity, and flexibility in an attractive, easy to handle, lightweight and affordable package.
Also on stage for side fill or dance club mode are some pre-existing JBL Marquis series MS115 speakers which are still working well after many years of use.
Two Soundweb London BLU-80 signal processors and a BLU-32 signal processor I/O expander connected by CobraNet drive the speaker system. This networked, fully assignable and distributed DSP solution gives the user flexibility, control, and cost-savings.
The speaker system is powered by two Crown amplifiers, a four-channel CTS4200A and a two-channel IT4000, chosen for their superior performance and reliability.
The effects rack includes dbx compressors, limiter, noise gates, expanders and graphic EQ's. Completing the audio requirements for Gasworks is a Shure cardioid condenser studio instrument microphone.
Jands also provided an event 408 lighting console to control the lighting in Gasworks as well as supplying a couple of their HP 12 professional wall mount digital dimmers and DMX512 distribution.
It is not just the impressive Gasworks that enjoys the benefits of a JBL sound system as the Beer Garden utilises fourteen JBL control25 AV speakers which function for background music during the day.
The Beer Garden also features an outdoors projector and three-metre wide screen for their ever-increasing in popularity film nights for which the JBL Control 25AV speakers provide the soundtrack.
The Garden Bar uses a further six JBL Control25AV while the Public Bar has a pair of JBL control 29AV speakers.
