A discreet audio system was installed at The Grounds of Alexandria, the flagship venue for its speciality coffee. The site hosts a coffee research and testing facility alongside a café, opening onto a luscious garden of heirloom vegetables and fragrant herbs.
Black and steel frames, bespoke wooden cabinetry and polished white and green subway tiles are contrasted against vintage wooden tables and refitted shipping containers, the overall ambience retaining the integrity of the former warehouse by embracing its rustic and industrial aesthetic.
York Antoniou of York Entertainment was asked by his client to provide a discreet audio system that would blend into its surrounds whilst still providing top quality sound reproduction.
Having used JBL products in the past and finding them to be reliable and solid with great sound, York recommended a JBL Control Series solution for The Grounds.
York explains that the venue is divided into four zones comprising of the café, the outside café area, the garden area and the back wall area. The JBL Control 25AV was chosen for its compact and lightweight design as well as good, clear sound in addition to an invisible mounting system that met the discreet installation requirement of the client.
A couple of JBL Control 23T speakers have been installed above the coffee grinding place. Power is supplied by Crown CDI1000 and CDI2000 amplifiers with signal processing by a BSS Audio Soundweb London BLU-100 and controlled by a BLU-8 wall controller.
