Audio-visual staging company AVCorp was able to meet the varied PA setup needs of different events at Sydney’s Allphones Arena using the flexibility of their JBL VRX and PRX speakers.
AVCorp has recently supplied audio systems for several large events held at the Allphones Arena as a preferred supplier without facing any issues with the different requirements.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme rally featuring the Prime Minister as a guest speaker saw the stage positioned in typical fashion at one end of the arena. The PA system comprised of two hangs of five JBL VRX 932LAP speakers and some VRX subs.
The versatile and lightweight JBL PRX speakers were used as infill and outfill at the front and for foldback duties on stage. Michael Papas, managing director of AVCorp added JBL PRX speakers to their inventory due to their flexibility in functioning as foldback monitors and infill speakers as well as their suitability for smaller events requiring just two speakers on stands.
AVCorp also uses a Soundcraft Si Compact 32 digital live sound console for every Allphones Arena production.
The audio was out of sync in the video playback via DVD but they were able to use the delay facility in the Soundcraft console to sync up the audio for the first scene. Michael explained that when the video cut to the second scene, they were able to switch it out, with everything done on the fly.
The next gig was the Lingerie Football where the PA consisted of four hangs of five JBL VRX 932LAP speakers hung from the centre of the arena and delivering excellent coverage. They didn’t use any subs due to budget limits but the DJ was able to play the sound really loud, keeping the client very happy.
The next event at the Allphones Arena for the State of Origin Party had the stage positioned along the length of the arena. Again, four hangs of five JBL VRX 932LAP speakers were used to deliver top quality audio results.
