RAMCO Manufacturing, represented in Australia by James Walker , has released a ‘See Thru’ PVC (polyvinyl chloride) Econo-Gard safety shield.
The new product ensures environmental safety in the workplace by preventing dangerous spray-outs of hazardous chemicals.
Fabricated for most pipe connections - flanges, valves and threaded connections - this transparent shield permits easy inspection of pipe joints, allowing personnel to detect leaks rapidly.
The clear Econo-Gard shield has an overlap design that wraps around the pipe joint completely preventing both potential frontal and lateral spray-outs of liquid chemicals.
To aid in the identification of a leak, a sensitive pH indicator is incorporated within the shield. Weep holes behind the indicator allow a slight flow of the leaking chemical to the indicator.
Econo-Gard shields are suitable for temperatures up to 60°C and demonstrate chemical resistance to certain chemicals, such as concentrated acids at low temperatures.
They have wide applications, particularly in conditions with ambient temperatures and pressures of 300psi or lower. Chemical processing industries, food processing and wastewater treatment facilities are typical applications for these shields.
This latest addition complements the range of safety shields available in a wide variety of materials, such as Teflon-coated fibreglass, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, both galvanised and stainless steel.
All plastic safety shields contain a replaceable indicator that changes colour on contact with a leaking chemical.
