A cost analysis conducted by JT Day Pty Ltd and BHP of the savings potential of long life lamps has come out strongly in favour of Aura long life lamps.

Conducted by Energy Project Manager, Joe Brana at the BHP Billiton Nickel West Refinery and JT Day’s Product Manager, Grant Macpherson, the analysis concluded that the cost of replacing a fluoro light taking into account installing and removing scaffolding, scheduling of staff and staff time amounts to about $1500 per occasion.

Significant cost savings can be achieved across the plant by using Aura long life lamps since the average lifespan of an Aura lamp is four times that of the standard fluoro lamps. Aura lamps will gradually be installed at all BHP locations across Australia.

Key features of Aura Ultimate tri-phosphor long life lamps:

  • Market-leading service life with extremely low lamp failure rate
  • Service life of 48,000 hours when operated with magnetic ballast with starter
  • Service life of 80,000 hours when operated with electronic ballast
  • Lower carbon dioxide emissions reduce impact on the environment
