WITH the release of Kawasaki Robotics D controller Kawasaki robots can now be easily manipulated into multi-task systems. The robots can simply plug and play up to 16 servos standard, plus the original 6 to control the robot.

JMP Engineering has used this latest technology to produce its 7th axis palletising rail.

The advantage of this system is that if there are many products then a simple system can be created to palletise all products simultaneously.

As the rail is modular it is easy to add extra lanes later as the requirements increase. The system has a small footprint, where space is at a premium, so it makes fitting into an existing operation very easy.

An example of an application JMP has installed is palletising 12 different products simultaneously with only one Kawasaki robot. JMP is currently building one for 14 cells and also looking at an 18-cell system.

The system can palletise more than 1000 cartons an hour but is not limited to cartons. It can handle bags, sheets, blocks – basically, anything.

The robot itself moves up and down the rail at approx 1000mm a second with an accuracy of 0.5mm over 18m.

The palletising system can be integrated with all JMP products and conveyers or a JMP stretch wrapper if required.

JMP also manufactures complete material handling systems not just palletising systems. Their product range is from simple conveyers to turnkey projects.
