Forks ‘4’ U bought an Isuzu NQR 450 truck to take their customer support offering to a new level of efficiency.

The forklift sale, hire and service company found an innovative way to cut down on service times by taking their workshop on the road right up to the customer’s door. A leading materials handling equipment company with branches in Townsville, Mackay, Cairns and Rockhampton, Forks ‘4’ U has been in business for over 15 years and attributes their growth to hard work and exceptional customer service.

With an aim to raise the bar on their service quality, Forks ‘4’ U decided to set up a mobile workshop to improve on the field service team’s operational efficiencies and service delivery, allowing them to reduce turnaround times in forklift service and maintenance tasks as well as minimise equipment downtime for their customers.

Forks ‘4’ U Director Darren Gardiner explains that the new NQR 450 shows the industry and its customers the company’s intentions to be in operation for the long haul.

Designed by Forks ‘4’ U Service Manager, Tom Edgecombe, the truck was customised into a mobile workshop, allowing them to carry enough parts and oils to be on the road for even a week. The vans they used as service vehicles in the past could only be operated for about two days’ work away.

Given a free rein to develop the truck, Tom designed the NQR with two 200-litre clean oil tanks for engine oil and hydraulic oil, both fitted with digital flow meters and pneumatic pumps. It is also fitted with a 300-litre waste oil tank connected to a pneumatic 1-inch Greco diaphragm pump. All these features have cut down on their major servicing times without having to go back and forth between the workshop and the customer’s site. Service times have been reduced by a third with the new truck.

New features in the NQR also include a hydraulic hose crimper, a range of fittings and hoses, and a hose saw, which enables mobile technicians to replace hoses on the spot, saving their customers’ time and money in having to call external hose doctors to complete the job.

The Isuzu truck has also been performing well on the tough and busy road conditions west of Mackay where there are a lot of heavy trucks and mining vehicles on the road.

Forks ‘4’ U is so impressed with the performance and comfort of the Isuzu NQR, they have already placed an order for a smaller NPR 275 Premium, which will operate from their Townsville branch.

NQR trucks are available in Australia from Isuzu-General Motors (Australia) .
