Range of track excavators displayed at IronPlanet online auction

An IronPlanet online auction held on 4 October attracted heavy equipment buyers from around the world, with a significant level of interest from the Australasian region.

The auction, which featured a broad range of heavy equipment, drew bidders from all over the world.

The global audience of potential buyers included a significant number from Australia and New Zealand. There were over 1474 views of the equipment listed in this auction from the Australasian region alone.

The inventory included 372 items, which received on average 19 bids each at a median purchase price of US$24216.

The top seller of the day was a 2005 Caterpillar 385BL Track Excavator, which sold for US$298000. The track dozer attracted 54 bids, going to the highest bidder who was located in Florida USA.

Other equipment that sold well in 4 October auction included two 2005 Caterpillar 730 off-road trucks which sold for US$177000 and US$172000 respectively.

Track excavators were key items in this auction, with two 2005 Komatsu PC300 LC-7 track excavators selling for US$150000 and US$144000 respectively. A 1998 Caterpillar D9R track dozer sold for US$137000.

Australian and New Zealand buyers made the most of the auction. Successful bidders from the region purchased a 2003 Caterpillar 304CR mini excavator at US$47000, 2006 Caterpillar 277B multi-terrain loader at US$36000, a 2003 Caterpillar 287 multi-terrain loader at US$18500, a 2003 Caterpillar 304CR mini excavator at US17000 and a 2003 Mustang MTL25 multi-terrain loader at US$20500.

A number of other items including attachments and spare parts were also bought by the Australasian bidders.
