An IronPlanet online auction held on 20 September attracted heavy equipment buyers from around the world, with a significant level of interest from the Australasian region.
The auction, which featured a broad range of heavy equipment, drew bidders from all over the world. The global audience of potential buyers included a significant number from Australia and New Zealand. There were over 2300 views of the equipment listed in this auction from the Australasian region alone.
The inventory included 480 items, which received on average 18 bids each at a median purchase price of US$17488. The top seller of the day was a 1998 Caterpillar D6R XL track dozer, which sold for US$128000.
The track dozer attracted 81 bids, going to the highest bidder who was located in California USA. Other equipment that sold well in 20 September auction included a 2004 Caterpillar 966G II wheel loader which sold for US$124000, a 2005 Caterpillar 963C track loader (US$123000), 2004 Deere 850C track dozer (US$118000) and a 2003 Caterpillar 330CL track excavator (US$113000).
Australian and New Zealand buyers made the most of the auction with a strong focus on equipment that is relatively easy to fit into a single container load.
Successful bidders from the region purchased a 2005 Caterpillar 302.5 mini excavator at US$22500, a 1996 Caterpillar D5C III track dozer at US$25500 and a 2003 Mustang MTL25 multi-terrain loader at US$20500.
A number of other items including attachments and accessories for skid steers were also purchased.
